I thought Facebook was supposed to taylor their ads to be specific for the user. Should this worry me?

Coraline, Henry Selick, Genius

Monday, February 16th, 2009 jimisaacs

I don’t usually post about my comings and goings over the weekend, because well… I just don’t think them to be ‘blog worthy’.

This must be the exception. I just had the privilege of watching Coraline this weekend, and was at a loss for words. I believe it to be the most amazing, animated, visual, and creative motion picture experience in this medium I have ever seen.

A Site in a Widget

Friday, January 23rd, 2009 jimisaacs

The full site is here.
Apart from the great motion graphics, animation, and sound. The site is a bit overkill, but aren’t all movie sites?

This isn’t my point…
The real purpose of this post is to show you what they did with the widget. They re-purposed everything from content assets to design assets for a miniature version of the site to fit anywhere.

Well thought out? That’s still a question.
Intuitive interface? Maybe not.
Overall… well done.

Your Great-Grandchildren

Thursday, December 18th, 2008 jimisaacs

I recently submitted this as a story to MoveOn.org, of which I’m a member. On my agenda, even above the economy, and the war in Iraq, is the environment. It is this, because the planet is more important than any one person, people, or place on it.

Here’s what I submitted as my reasoning:

Imagine your great-grandchildren. They can’t just go play outside, they must bring an oxygen mask everywhere they go. Their skin can never see the sun, and they must fight for the small amount of food with the rest of the world’s population.

Just because you can’t prove things with concrete evidence doesn’t mean that you can do whatever you want until it happens. That is the way America has worked hasn’t it, “innocent until proven guilty” right? So that means, fast food isn’t bad for you until you need a heart transplant, cigarettes aren’t bad for you until you need lung surgery, candy isn’t bad for your teeth until you need a root canal, and global warming isn’t happening until you need to go outside in a rubber suite.

Battling greed is the start of any common change that is against the rich’s interests. Greed blinds common sense from these people and they simply don’t see these outcomes. How can we battle such disconsideration? I’m still trying to figure that out too, but this is a start for me.
