Happy day after St. Patrick’s day! I hope everybody get to drink at least one good beer and eat one (yummster) green cupcake. Yesterday, I spent part of my sunny St. Patrick’s day by going to Yoshitomo Nara’s solo exhibition at Marianne Boesky Gallery. He is one of my favorite artists from Japan and it was very nice to see his work so close for the first time. It is his fourth show at the gallery and every single piece there, including two immense sculptures, was well installed and looked amazing. When I was there, I really wished I was living in his world. It was lovely.

Kunio Kato from Robot is a director/illustrator from Japan who recently won the Academy Award for best short film, La Maison en Pettis Cubes. He has very delicate stlye of illustration and most of his animation does not include dialogue. Just like his speech at the Oscars, his animation is very sweet. So another booze beverage has hit the shelves; this time a fancy sake called Ty Ku.  Hailing from Japan I can only guess, it’s new promo campaign, “Show us your skin’ asked a bunch of tattoo-heads to send in photographs of their body art.  The prize; star in a new ad campaign starring ‘you’ with a party thrown in your honour at your most loved tattoo parlour.  A tad naff I hear you mutter, but check out this dude -

So yeah, naked dudes that risk a needle going anywhere near their nether regions fascinates me - all the way to the dog tracks.  The judges are a bit suspect - Creative Director of Inked (check), Mario Barth (renowned tattoo artist, winning a gazillion awards - check), but um, Neyo?  Richie Rich? Dhani Makalani Jones?  Oh that last one is an American football player.   I’m all about segueways but really??

A week or two ago, I decided to use up some old acrylic paint I had in my closet so I bought a few munnies and painted them. Enjoy.
